Are you traveling to Daytona Beach, Florida? Are you looking for a place to stay or things to do? As a Florida resident, I am very fortunate to live in a state with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I love any opportunity to visit the beach whether it is near my home or across the world. Daytona Beach offers some unique opportunities for the entire family and is a great day, weekend or longer trip. Read below for a highlight of my favorite place to stay, things to do and where eat in Daytona Beach.

Where to Stay in Daytona Beach:

The Shores Resort & Spa

When I visit a beach, I always want to stay as close to the beach as possible. The Shores Resort & Spa is a beachfront resort that is centrally located on Daytona Beach. As a AAA Four-Diamond hotel, the resort offers amenities for your entire family. Adults will love the spa, beautiful accommodations and beachfront cabanas. Kids love the easy access to the beach and the outdoor fire pits for roasting marshmallows.

The rooms are large and beautiful. I highly recommend an ocean front room to enjoy the beautiful ocean view. The resort also offers the opportunity to enjoy the best that the beach has to offer including bike riding, walking, swimming and more.

The best thing about The Shores Resort & Spa is the beachside s’mores activity. Each night, you can roast marshmallows by the fire pits at the resort. The fire pits overlook the ocean and the resort can provide you with everything you need to make the s’mores.

Where to Eat in Daytona Beach:

When I visit a new city or even when I am looking for new restaurants in my own city, I always read reviews online, search TripAdvisor or OpenTable and ask locals for recommendations. I discovered my two favorite places to eat in Daytona Beach by researching them online and they did not disappoint.

Zen Bistro

Zen Bistro is a lovely little Thai Restaurant located in Daytona Beach. They have a beautiful outdoor patio area and great service. They offer something for everyone but I highly recommend the curries or Pad Thai.

Martini’s Chophouse

I visited Martini’s Chophouse after reading about the restaurant’s dedication to using natural and organic products. The food was fresh and flavorful. They also have a lovely outdoor patio area where you sit among beautiful bamboo and listen to a tranquil waterfall. The menu is an assortment of fresh greens, seafood, grass fed beef and more. I love the jumbo lump crab and lobster.

Cow Lick’s Ice Cream

I can always find an excuse to eat ice cream at the beach. Cow Lick’s Ice Cream is located within walking distance of The Shores Resort & Spa. Grab a one scoop, double scoop or special sundae made with homemade ice cream.

What to Do in Daytona Beach:

Stand Up Paddle Board Tour with Three Brothers Boards

I love to explore the water on a paddle board. After reading the good reviews for Three Brothers Boards on TripAdvisor, I booked a reservation for the early morning tour. I love any excuse to be on the water and enjoyed paddleboarding on many of my previous trips. Not only is it a great workout, but it is a nice way to explore the area on the water. The guys at Three Brothers Boards are great. If you never used a paddle board before, they will give you a quick lesson and offer you tips that will make you feel comfortable on the water. I highly recommend a paddle board tour when visiting Daytona Beach. In fact, after this trip I finally decided to purchase my own paddle board so that I don’t have to wait until I travel to use one.

The Beach

Every single beach in Florida is unique. In Daytona Beach, when the tide is out the beach is wide. Yes, in Daytona Beach you are even allowed to drive on the beach. Explore the beach on foot or bring your bike and take a ride. The best thing I love about Daytona Beach is that even when the beach is busy, it doesn’t feel busy. Walk down the beach, find a spot to relax and enjoy the day.

Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse & Museum

Lighthouses are a wonderful piece of American history. The Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is a gem. I visited other lighthouses in the past, but no other lighthouse was as well maintained as this lighthouse. Not only can you climb the lighthouse to view Daytona Beach from the top, but you can also explore the grounds to learn about how lighthouse keepers actually lived.

The property includes other small buildings where the lighthouse keeper’s family lived and conducted business. In addition to the historic buildings, the property includes a lens exhibit building which houses a collection of lighthouse lenses.

S’mores by the Shore

For the Daytona Beach grande finale, you must enjoy s’mores by the shore at The Shores Resort & Spa. I know that I already mentioned this activity earlier in this post, but it is an activity that should not be missed on any visit to Daytona Beach. Admire the sunset and then enjoy a delicious treat of roasted marshmallows sandwiched between two graham crackers with sweet chocolate. Seaside s’mores is the perfect ending to a great way at the beach!

Daytona Beach is great for couples and families and is also known as the festival capital of Florida Don’t miss other kid friendly options, outdoor fun and free things to do in Daytona Beach! Go ahead, the beach awaits!
