Making a cheese board doesn’t have to be difficult. I’m sharing five tips for how to make a simple cheese board that everyone will love!

Cheese boards are one of my favorite things to snack on because they are easy to make and are full of flavor. They are the perfect addition to any dinner party or gathering. You can create inventive and unique cheeseboards without spending a lot of time and money. Don’t try to complicate things, just keep it simple. Scroll below for my five tips for making a simple cheese board.
How to Make a Simple Cheese Board
(1) Focus on texture, color and flavor – Make sure you have a little of each. People eat with their eyes first. I like to have something crunchy, something smooth and something delicate. Cinnamon Spice Pepitas add the perfect amount of crunch and they also add a hint of sweet flavor. I also like something salty such as cured meats or salted nuts. To enhance the flavor of the board, I always include a chutney or spread, such as this Cranberry Pear Chutney or Pumpkin Hummus. Add some crackers and a few pieces of fruit and you have a cheese board full of texture, color and flavor.
(2) Stick to three or four quality cheeses – Don’t complicate the cheese or over think what type of cheese you need. Pick three or four quality cheeses from your local supermarket or specialty store. Choose your longtime favorites or be adventurous and try something new.
(3) Cheese is best served at room temperature – Take the cheese out of refrigerator an hour before serving.
(4) Pick a theme or don’t – If it is easy for you, just pick a theme. I like to do seasonal themes, such as the board in the picture above using seasonal fruit and fresh fall flavors. If a theme makes it difficult, then don’t worry about it. Just add your favorite ingredients and enjoy!
(5) Cut the cheese in advance – To keep things easy and to prevent your cheese board from looking like a mess after the first person digs in, cut the cheese in advance and arrange it on the board. For soft cheese, like blue or chevre, use a wire for clean cuts. For hard cheeses in wedges, bricks or rounds, cut the cheese into wedges or strips in the shape of the original wedge.
