You will find magic around every corner at Walt Disney World Resort. But, do you know that Walt Disney World is also a great place for foodies? Not only does Disney offer numerous options for specialty dining, but the property also offers an assortment of unique foodie experiences. Attend an exclusive dessert party and experience the excitement of the Magic Kingdom fireworks while sampling delectable treats. Or go behind the seeds at Epcot and take a tour that will appeal to all of your senses as you learn about high-tech horticulture and actual living laboratories. (1) Enjoy lunch or dinner at a Signature Dining Restaurant
Walt Disney World is filled with unique opportunities to experience delectable meals from around the world. One of my favorite ways to experience the flavors of Disney is to enjoy lunch or dinner at one of Disney’s signature dining restaurants. With over 25 signature dining restaurants you will find something to please everyone’s palate.
My top three favorite Walt Disney World signature dining restaurants are California Grill, Jiko and Tiffins. I also really love Sanaa even though it’s not considered a signature dining restaurant. I love that each restaurant is unique and different. You can experience exceptional meals from around the world without ever leaving the resort. The food, ambiance and details are remarkable and something that you will remember forever.
While the food is the highlight, don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about the imagineering of the restaurant. Disney imagineers bring their vision to life by focusing on the details. Ask your server about the history of the artwork or how a certain dish on the menu was named. The Snow Leopard Salvation cocktail that you see in the picture above is offered in the Nomad Lounge at Tiffins in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. The drink is packed with the freshest flavor and proceeds from the sale goes towards the Snow Leopard Trust to save the snow leopards. Isn’t that amazing?! Every single time I visit Walt Disney World I am truly amazed by Disney’s attention to detail.
(2) Take the Behind the Seeds Tour at Epcot
Did you know that some of the produce served at Walt Disney World is grown inside greenhouses located at Epcot? If you have ever enjoyed The Living Land ride at Epcot than you’ve seen the greenhouse in action. The boat ride in The Land was one of my favorite Disney rides as a child because I loved that it was so unique. For a more in depth look at The Land, you can take the Behind the Seeds Tour.
In true Disney form, the tour guides are extremely knowledge and enthusiastic about their work at The Land. You can see Disney employees picking fresh flowers used in the drinks served around the world at Epcot and learn how they are researching natural pest management techniques. The tour is a fun way to start your day at the park and is a great behind the scenes look at the farm-to-table experience at Walt Disney World Resort.
(3) Visit one of the festivals at Epcot throughout the year
I never knew how much I loved Epcot until I started attending the festivals more often. It seems like there is always an event happening at Epcot and fantastic food options are around every corner. I loved it so much I went back a few weeks later. I’m looking forward to attending the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival in the fall and perhaps the Epcot International Festival of the Arts next winter.
The festivals are a great chance to sample some of Disney’s unique food offerings that are only available during the festivals. While I really love the food options at Epcot World Showcase, the festival food is even better! You can plan your own foodie world tour by sampling creations from around the World Showcase. I highly recommend planning a trip to visit one of the Epcot festivals. You won’t be disappointed and your stomach will thank you!
(4) Indulge in the sweetest creations at a Dessert Party
Did someone say dessert? While sweet treats are relatively easy to find at Walt Disney World, a special Disney dessert party is even more delectable. Walt Disney World resort offers a variety of spectacular sweet spots to please kids and adults.
If you don’t have a chance to book one of the official Disney dessert parties, then create your own. I love stopping by Raglan Road Irish Pub at Disney Springs for drinks and dessert. If you are visiting one of the parks, stop to grab a few treats such as a Dole Whip and Churros at the Magic Kingdom or Candied Strawberries and French Macarons at Epcot. Endless dessert options are everywhere so find your favorite creations and make it a special treat!
(5) Learn from a Disney pastry artist during a hands on cake decorating class
Out of all of the items on this list, I’ve never actually attended a Disney cake decorating class, but it’s first on my list the next time I visit. Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs offers a Cake Decorating Experience. During the class you have the opportunity to learn the same tips and techniques that Disney’s pastry artists use to create some of the incredible cakes and desserts you see around Walt Disney World. I’m excited to try this experience on my next visit!
