Read all about my trip to Food Blog Forum 2015 at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Luxury accommodations at the Grand Floridian Resort, incredible food and fun surprises made my Disney experience exceptional!
Food, fun, friends and a dash of blogging. Now that is a recipe for a great time.
A few weeks ago, I traveled to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida for Food Blog Forum. I shared a few pictures on Instagram (hashtag #spoonfultravel) while I was there and today I want to share all of the details.
I’m not even sure exactly how many times I’ve visited Disney World. As a child growing up in New England, my family always loved escaping the cold winters so that meant a lot of trips to warm and sunny Orlando. Now that I live in Florida, I don’t visit nearly as often as I should, but it is nice to have the opportunity close by.
I have stayed at many Disney Resorts but never stayed at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It was a treat to be able to stay at the resort for the conference. The property is beautiful and the rooms greatly exceeded my expectations. I love that the resort is only one stop away from the Magic Kingdom via the monorail. The 24-hour late night snack bar, large pool area and beautiful views were additional perks that I enjoyed while staying on the property.
Food Blog Forum was the reason for visiting Walt Disney World Resort. The conference started with a welcome reception at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando (another beautiful property.) The actual conference started bright and early Saturday morning at the Contemporary Resort. The line up of speakers was phenomenal and I can’t believe how fast it was over. After one day of valuable information and discussions, I left motivated and inspired.
One of my favorite things about food blog conferences is spending time with other bloggers. The food blogging community is a great community and I love being a part of it.
Everything about the conference and my trip to Disney World exceed expectations. The hosts, speakers and sponsors went above and beyond to make Food Blog Forum 2015 a huge success. A special highlight of the weekend was when I won the giveaway for a Goo Goo Cluster basket full of goodies! Special thanks to Goo Goo Cluster for making my weekend extra sweet!
Prior to my visit, I tried to make reservations at the California Grill for dinner. Because the restaurant is very popular all of the tables were booked for the weekend. I was bummed until I found out that we were having a chef hosted lunch at California Grill on Saturday during the conference. What an awesome surprise! The food was exceptional and the delicious disney lunch featured dishes from some of the best Disney restaurants including Be Our Guest Restaurant, California Grill, Le Cellier Steakhouse, Sanaa and more!
On Sunday, we had a free day to enjoy with friends and family at the parks. We had fun experiencing the rides, eating more delicious food and enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. We made lunch reservations at Sanaa restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. I loved Sanaa! I requested a seat by the window so we could watch the animals outside. It was a unique experience to enjoy lunch while giraffes were eating their own lunch outside the window. Of course we ordered a selection of naan bread, a few cocktails and a sampling of courses from their menu. Everything we ordered was delicious and I can’t wait to return to Sanaa.
Our mission after lunch was to find a sweet treat. We headed over to the new Erin McKenna’s Bakery at Downtown Disney. The treats are gluten-free, dairy-free, wheat-free, soy-free, egg-free and refined-sugar-free. It is a good thing that I don’t live too close to this place because their donuts are irresistible.
On our last night we stopped by Raglan Road located in Downtown Disney for dinner. I’ve always heard good things about the restaurant and finally decided to try it. The food exceed my expectations and we will definitely return. They have live music and Irish dancers that perform while you are waiting for your food. It is a casual and fun place to grab dinner and drinks.
I never leave Disney without stopping at Ghirardelli chocolate shop and ordering a chocolate covered strawberry sundae. The perfect ending to the best weekend!
This last picture pretty much sums up our weekend. I’m already looking forward to my next trip to Disney World and my next opportunity to attend Food Blog Forum. A HUGE thanks to Walt Disney World Resort for hosting the event and all of the sponsors including KitchenAid, OXO, Sabra, and more!
