Applesauce Fritters in the Air Fryer

Golden brown, warmly spiced air fryer applesauce fritters with soft apple pieces and a sweet glaze. A quick, nostalgic treat that tastes straight from your favorite donut shop.

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ¼ cup milk room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 1 large apple peeled and diced

Glaze:

  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk applesauce, milk, molasses, vanilla, and egg until combined. Add mixed dry ingredients into wet ingredients and stir gently, being sure not to overmix. Fold in the apples.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400F. Once preheated, line the inside of the air fryer basket with parchment paper, then drop ⅓ cup-sized mounds of batter in the basket, being sure not to overcrowd them.
  • Air fry for 6-8 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer them to a cooling rack set over a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining batter.
  • To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and milk in a medium bowl until smooth. Drizzle over warm fritters and serve.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container for 2–3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes.
