Start your day with an easy homemade breakfast burrito with bacon, egg, cheese and healthy veggies! And a recap of the Ohio Dairy Adventure with the American Dairy Association Mideast!
Last month I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Ohio with some of my favorite bloggers and the American Dairy Association Mideast. As a Florida girl I was happy to enjoy a little taste of the fall season in the beautiful Ohio Amish country while learning all about the dairy industry. I learned so much about dairy farming, met some wonderful people and ate more cheese than I could have ever imagined!
We stayed at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Hotel at the Arcade located in downtown Cleveland. The first night we headed over to the House of Blues for a wine and cheese pairing. We tasted eight different types of cheese made in Ohio and learned all about the perfect wine pairing.
The entire group of bloggers with the Richman family: Heather from Heather’s Dish, Liz from Love Grows Wild, Courtney from NeighborFood, Emily from Jelly Toast, Jamie from My Baking Addiction, me, Taylor from Food Faith Fitness, Megan from Country Cleaver, and Lauren from Climbing Grier Mountain.
We visited two dairy farms, toured a cheese company, refueled with a homemade lunch at an Amish house and enjoyed dinner with Joe Thomas at the Cleveland Browns stadium. I also learned all about the Fuel Up to Play 60 Program, a partnership with the National Dairy Council, Cleveland Browns and schools all across the U.S. The grand finale of the trip was lunch at the ultimate grilled cheese restaurant, Melt Bar and Grilled in Cleveland. I want to go back and sample all of the sandwiches we didn’t get a chance to try because we were stuffed with utterly cheesy goodness. Oh, and did I mention that we ate a lot of cheese?
It wasn’t my first time on a dairy farm since I visited one before as a young child, but it was definitely my first time milking a cow! We visited the Richman Dairy Farm, a small dairy farm with 80 cows and also the Andreas Dairy Farm, a large dairy farm with over 1,000 cows. I was very impressed with the quality, care and deep commitment these farmers have to their cows. The farms have been passed down through generations of families dedicated to maintaining the highest quality and care of their cows. The cows eat better than most people I know. The farmers employ professional nutritionists to develop a balance and nutritious diet for their cows.
The best part of the trip was all of the cheese that I brought home. So today, I am sharing a cheesy breakfast that the entire family will love. Milk, eggs, cheese, bacon and some healthy veggies creates a filling breakfast burrito that will help you kick start the day. Starting the day with a healthy breakfast is the best way to fuel up and get your recommended servings of dairy.
Start the morning with some milk and cheese in this breakfast burrito, and why not enjoy it with a big glass of milk?
A huge THANKS to the entire team at ADA Mideast for a MOOvolous event!
