And the best part is it is so incredibly simple to make. I love making this recipe for parties, tailgates or other get-togethers, but I especially love making it when I don’t have time to run to the store to grab the ingredients. All the ingredients are things I usually have in my pantry and fridge. Best of all, this slow cooker buffalo chicken dip takes less than 5 minutes of prep!
How to make slow cooker buffalo chicken dip
To make slow cooker buffalo chicken dip, add cooked shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, cream cheese, ranch dressing and blue cheese to a crock pot. You can omit the blue cheese, if desired.
This recipe is by far one of the easiest buffalo chicken dip recipes I have ever had. There’s no need to combine everything in a bowl before transferring it to the slow cooker, I just mix everything in the crockpot! Plus, a lot of these ingredients are things that I already have in my kitchen. So if I’m looking for a quick and easy appetizer recipe but don’t want to head to the grocery store and make another trip, this is always my go to since the recipes are on hand!
How long do you cook buffalo chicken in the crockpot?
I love this recipe so that I can just throw everything in the crockpot and I don’t have to worry about setting a timer or taking it out of the oven at a certain time. I’ll set the time on the crockpot and it does the rest for me! For this recipe, I’ll cook it on low for 2 hours. You can keep it warm for as long as you need!
As far as prep work goes, this recipe is fast! And it helps that you can set it and forget it while it cooks for two hours. If you need to speed the process up, try cooking on high for 30 minutes to an hour.
Can you use canned chicken for this recipe?
Yes you can! Just sub the cooked chicken for 2 cups of canned chicken. Make sure to drain the chicken beforehand. You’ll need about three 5 oz. cans of chicken to make 2 cups.
To make creamy buffalo chicken dip
The key to making a really creamy buffalo chicken dip is the cream cheese! The cream cheese gives this recipe it’s signature creamy buffalo chicken dip texture that we all love so much.
To make buffalo chicken dip in the oven
You can make this recipe even if you don’t have a slow cooker or crockpot! Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Mix all the ingredients together and transfer to a baking dish. Bake about 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. I’m partial to the slow cooker because all the flavors melt together and it’s so creamy, but making it in the oven is a good alternative, too!
Serving Dip
Serve this dip with a bunch of different types of crackers, pretzels and veggies. I even tried some fun “crackers,” like the bacon I used here! My go-tos are tortilla chips, celery, cucumbers, ritz crackers, pita or naan bread and even fritos scoops.
Make sure you are the hit at your next party or get together with this buffalo chicken dip recipe! The signature buffalo chicken flavor and the creamy cream cheese texture ensures that this appetizer will always be a crowd favorite. Make your party prep easy – this is the simplest recipe to make! It always helps me when I’m in a pinch for a party, tailgate or other get-together. It’s the best when I don’t have the time to run to the store to grab the ingredients, because it’s made with things I usually have in my pantry and fridge!
