Tips to make crispy Brussels sprouts

mixing together ingredients for roasted brussels sprouts
  • Roast at 425 or 450 degrees F. Higher heat yields crispier sprouts.
  • Do not roast them with anything else. Roast the Brussels sprouts on their own to yield crispy sprouts. Cooking with another recipe or ingredient can alter cook time and moisture content in the oven.
  • Roast directly on the sheet pan. Don’t roast on a silicone baking sheet. And while tin foil or parchment paper can be used, directly roasting on the pan is preferred.
  • For the crispiest sprouts, omit the balsamic vinegar. This will remove the tangy balsamic flavor but will yield even crispier sprouts.

Flavor variations

There are a lot of ways to elevate the flavor of these sprouts. Try one of the following variations for even more texture and flavor.

  • Add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup for a sweeter flavor.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne powder or a drizzle of hot sauce before baking for a kick of heat.
  • Stir in some Candied Pecans after baking for additional flavor and crunch.
  • Sprinkle some cheese over the sprouts after baking. Feta cheese and Parmesan cheese are a great addition.
